Conference Co-Directors:  Laurence McCullough, PhD & Stephen Wear, PhD

The Project to Rebalance and Integrate Medical Education (PRIME) National Conference will bring together nationally recognized educators and leaders from the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), and the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to shape medical ethics and humanities teaching of medical students and residents that is responsive to national standards of accreditation and professionalism.  PRIME will:

•Articulate benchmark standards for undergraduate and graduate medical education in medical ethics and humanities for measurably achieving professionalism in the mastery of General Competencies.

•Establish content, methods, and assessment of medical ethics and humanities teaching essential to achieving professionalism in the mastery of General Competencies.

•Plan a national resource center to support teaching of medical ethics and humanities.

Attendees will learn about the forthcoming accreditation standards for undergraduate and graduate medical education, the essential role of medical ethics and humanities teaching in meeting these accreditation standards, and plan the improvement of their own school’s medical ethics and humanities curriculum.  This conference will position participants to define and achieve clear and assessable pedagogical goals and objectives related to professionalism in medical education.
